Our Inheritance part 4
By Ashley Thomas ..that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe according to the working of His mighty power” Ephesians 1:17-19 Our Inheritance part 4 The third key in helping us unlock our understanding in our inheritance: to know what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. All of us know how important power is, it provides energy in the form of motive power, electrical generation, lighting, the use and conservation of heat, and in an array of other applications. We are all dependent on power, for example take the past New York railway blackout, commuters were stuck underground almost suffocating, the doors wouldn’t open and the seriousness of that particular situation was that if something wasn’t done quickly it would of meant serious casualties. The truth is that without power in this age we can scarcely survive. If power on earth is such a needed commodity, do we not realise that the need for God’s power is far greater?. This power is indeed exceedingly great because it is the same power that raised Christ from the dead. It is the same power that is at work within us now, eventhough we may not feel it - it is flowing. Isn’t that what currency means, a flow that is continuous and on the move. When Christ arose, He became the first man to ascend to the highest place far above all principality and power and might and dominion. What began with the resurrection of Christ has not ceased, the power is at work (switched on) to everyone who believes. That explains why the apostle Paul said ” for the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved - it is the power of God.” To get to our inheritance there has to be continuity, no stoppages. I use the word stoppage in candor because there are things in life that can in fact stop(age) us from gaining maturity in Christ. Again the apostle Paul makes this clear to those who ” have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.” Oh! there are those who are ever active in many affairs, much enterprise and so they say for the Kingdom, but they have no evidence of a growing relationship in their understanding of Christ. They are those who are eager to teach but are slow to learn. As a result we have a generation who have got caught up in religious endeavors and the traditions of man, but they have no currency at hand and may I say this: - when you lose currency, you lose your credit(ability). That is why we need to have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. Only then would we be able to have the eyes of our understanding open to the riches that are in Christ and the power that is at work in us to qualify us as sons. Amen!
